28 minutes ago I put the kids down for a nap and started my morning routine of consuming my coffee addiction and checking email. 1 minute ago I heard the kids’ door open…(no one besides myself and the kids are home)…..I turn towards their room, heart pounding, ready to take someone out and see….

A proud 2 year old girl walking out of her room proclaiming “All done! All done night night!”.
What?! I haven’t even noticed her trying to crawl out of her crib!
What do we do now? She has one of those convertible cribs that turn into a toddler bed, so that’s not a problem, but I’m not ready for this. I’m used to putting her in there and knowing that’s the end of it. No escape.
This weekend she moved up to the next class in nursery where the kids can use facial hair in a sentence. She pooped in the potty and now is apparently “all done” with her crib. The same crib she’s always been in. The empty crib I stood over while my heart broke because she was still in NICU and I was at home.
SHE’S GROWING UP! Sob.
So what now? I’m sure y’all have dealt with this. How do you transition to a big kid bed?

we transitioned our boy into his big boy bed, and honestly (*knocking on wood*), it was so much harder on US than it was on him.
we close his bedroom door for naps and at bedtime. then, before we go to sleep for the night, we put a gate in front of his door and then open it up….
i will say that naptime was the hardest. it ended up with me just putting him in his room and he stayed there until he fell asleep. a few times we found him sleeping on the floor, or standing next to his bed with his little body bent over, his head on his pillow.
Lila has yet to try to climb out of her crib, as far as I know at least. I do not look forward to the day when she makes me change that crib over to a toddler bed.
We changed Little man right around his second birthday and he treated it exactly like a crib. We put him in at nap time and bedtime and he didn’t even try to get out. I think we were very lucky in this respect. We made a huge deal out of him getting his big boy bed, took him with us to buy it, he helped daddy put it together, and then he helped get the sheets, blankets, and stuffed animals on top. We told him that he needed to stay in his bed and if he needed something or was ready to get up then he could call for us and we would hear it through the monitor. As he got older he would get up and play before nap but then he always went back to the bed and took his nap “when he was ready.” I’m not sure how we ended up so lucky because potty training has been a nightmare!
is that a screenshot from Backstreet Boys music video? Where they are dancing in the rain in the cheesiest way possible yet able to entice every teenage girls from LA to NY?
