While at the post office waiting in line to send off the Thistle Hill package to Christina, this happened:
Christian: (From his perch on my hip) “Where’s Daddy?”
Maddie: (Pauses from pulling all the padded envelopes off the shelf) ” Daddy’s at work”
I almost started crying right there. I looked around at the other two people in line expecting them to join with me in a chorus of “What a beautiful world”, but they didn’t. They didn’t even turn around.
Don’t you get it people? This is a milestone, a moment! My 16 month old and 28 month old just had their first conversation! First ever! This is the beginning of laughing at shared jokes, rolling their eyes at each other behind my back. The beginning of shared thoughts, feelings, history and memories. We’re talking about the beginning of a friendship!
They aren’t just two babies taking up space in my heart and my home anymore, they’re starting to share something just between the two of them! They are brother and sister ![]()

aw, that is so sweet
you should be so proud!!!! can’t wait until jayda starts chatting with hailey instead of just hitting her all the time!
That’s SO awesome~I know you’re just beaming
Isn’t it great when siblings begin that special bonding
Despite the HUGE age difference in my boys (Justin’s 12 1/2 & Kendall’s 3) they’ve begun having special moments like Maddie & Christian did & it just melts my heart & my heart swells w/pride
Enjoy these moments
Oh that’s so cute!!! I can’t wait for that to happen, though I think I’ll be waiting another year and a half or longer. I definitely don’t want to wait as long between this baby and the next one.
ahh that is great! And to think you going to the post office for me made it all happen! HA HA! I tried to set my blog so that you could comment… and I added yours onto my blog page, but I didn’t understand your email about the rest of the stuff… Im kinda a blog virgin
All help appriciated!

Oh the first conversation! I remember those days between my boys. It’s so awesome and exciting.
I think you need to post a belly pic!!!!!!
Did I ever tell you that my older bro (14 mos older) is my best friend?
You survived the post office with 2 toddlers? One of my favorite memories of mine being that age is when they would chase each other around the island in our kitchen and Logan (the younger) would say “Dit De!”, his version of “sissy”.
