A couple birthdays ago, Dustin gave me a subscription to Parents magazine. Although I read their advice with one rolling eye, I do love me some funny kid stories. As soon as I get the magazine, I flip to the back for the article where moms send in their funny stories.
The other day I had my very own funny moment. It’s not worth sending to Parents, but it still made me laugh and blush.
We’ve been teaching Maddie her body parts and all together thoroughly confusing her in the process. It started with me playfully patting her tummy and saying “tummy, tummy, tummy”. But Dustin uses the same tone of voice and same exact actions but instead, he says “tubby, tubby, tubby.”
The other day I was out with the kids trying on clothes. I had both kids in the double stroller crammed into a regular dressing room. (I wanted to drag the perfectly healthy and childless teenager out of the handicapped dressing room by her bellybutton ring…but that’s a different issue now isn’t it?) While I was changing shirts, Maddie gleefully reached over smacked my stomach and YELLED “tubby, tubby, tubby”. I started to shush her but then realized it was useless and laughed along with the other faceless women in the dressing room).

It’s funny how kids don’t know boundaries at this age…they don’t know what will embarrass us….like how Lila stuck her hand down my shirt and squeezed my boob today while I was asking the saleslady a question at Kmart.
HEEHEE!! Amelia points at my belly and shouts, BABY! because her teacher at school is pregnant
which elicits some explaining sometimes, and she definitely grabs my boob ALL THE TIME and says, “Boobie!” which cracks everyone up.
