We’re still on vacation! Because we own our own business that really only needs our laptop in order to run, we decided that after we picked up the kids after our week in Utah that we still weren’t done having fun. We’ve been at D’s parents since Tuesday. The typical daily conversation goes something like this “So, what do you think we’ll do today?” “I dunno, let’s talk about it later” ..Later.. “Do you think we’ll head back today?” “Nah, let’s see how we feel tomorrow”…we have been doing that for 5 days now :). SOOOO out of character for us.
Over the past year we’ve been glued to our apartment because as part of our ministry we planned 6-10 events a month for the 500+ people that live there! Not to mention our commitments to church during the week and on Sundays, along with the necessity to be home for business meetings with clients. So….now that we’re finished with our ministry (part of the fall out of recent circumstances), most of Dustin’s projects are outsourced and running smooth..we’ve been able to wander around AZ at our leisure. We really needed a release valve for all the tension in our marriage and this time has really helped with that.
We’re headed back today…maybe :).
I do feel different going back home. I left bitter, hurt, and struggling with hopelessness. Over the course of the week in Utah, I was able to have so many moments with Dustin where I was reminded of why our marriage is worth fighting for. (Besides the fact that it was a vow before God). We still have a long way to go, but I have the desire to fight not only to make our marriage work, but to live it out enjoying his company and desiring to whatever is necessary to not only live as husband and wife, but as friends.
